Happy Canada Day Weekend

J.R. and I have so much to be grateful for this Canada Day long weekend. The next book in the Paige Maddison Series is due to be released September, 2014. We just received the official galley, the final copy, and it goes to the printer next week. It has been a long, difficult, two years since the release of the first book in the series, Wake Me Up Inside. Hopefully, the readers will embrace the second book in the series, Destiny’s Gate. Feedback has been fantastic so far from the many test readers, editor, book representatives, and marketers that have read it. Also the fine authors that endorsed the book: John Robert Colombo, author and anthologist, International Bestselling Author Cheryl Kaye Tardif and Philip Henry, Irish author and film-maker / writer director. We are so happy each author took the time to read it and gave their feedback on Destiny’s Gate. Thank you, thank you! We will keep you posted on the final release date. Enjoy your Canada Day!

Happy Holidays from my family to yours!

Happy Summer Solstice to all Northeners and Happy National Aboriginal Day

Here we are! It’s Summer, finally. Hip hip hooray. We had a beautiful spring and hopefully it will continue into the summer months, with warmer weather on the way. My husband, Kevin, and I celebrated the solstice by honouring National Aboriginal Day while at Sainte-Marie Among the Hurons. We had a fortunate opportunity of attending the Red Spirit First Nation Dancers and Drum group. It was awesome to listen to their stories about their heritage. The first dance we saw was a grandfather’s healing song for his sick granddaughter. Beautiful singing, drumming and dancing. Thank you for your inspiring performances!

All of the dancers were energized and passionate about the oncoming solstice. The dancers were mesmerizing to watch with their colourful clothing.

Enjoy the longest day of the year. Don’t forget to light a bonfire tonight to ward off any evil spirits that may come your way. Dance around the fire and have some fun.

You too, can attend and see these awesome dancers at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons. http://www.saintemarieamongthehurons.on.ca/sm/en/SpecialEvents/NationalAboriginalDay/index.htm

Film-maker and Irish Author Philip Henry: Blurb for Destiny’s Gate is Awesome!

I just finished Destiny’s Gate and really enjoyed it. The second book in the series feels less like a sequel and more like the second installment of a trilogy; the part which is usually the most spiritual and soul-searching. There are many surprises, shocks and scares around every corner as young Paige comes to realize just how important she is in the on-going battle between good and evil. The story keeps the reader gripped throughout and the ending leaves no doubt that Ms. Maddison’s adventures are far from over.

Philip Henry, Irish Author, Writer Director/Film-maker

Thank you so much, Philip Henry!  J.R. and I are over the moon with your blurb. This is the third and final blurb for the soon-to-be-released Destiny’s Gate, second book in the Paige Maddison Series. A big shout-out to you in Portstewart, Ireland 🙂

First Reveal of Destiny’s Gate Book Blurb, Paige Maddison Series by Lee Bice-Matheson & J.R. Matheson

By Lee Bice-Matheson & J.R. Matheson

By Lee Bice-Matheson & J.R. Matheson

This just in, the reveal of what DESTINY’S GATE is all about! See it here first!

— Live from a place of love. It conquers all that is evil.

Shaken by the haunting of Conall, Paige Maddison hopes to put it behind her. When Paige’s premonitions, nightmares, and ghostly visions return, however, she realizes there is no way of getting back to the normal she once knew. Try as she might to adjust to her new life at the O’Brien Manor, dark forces begin to brew on the grounds of the haunted O’Brien estate. Paige becomes the unwilling  target of the Earthbounds, anguished souls who seek revenge and retribution.

But where there is darkness, there is also light. Through an enigmatic string of events that has her questioning who she truly is, Paige soon learns that she is not only being watched over by guardians of both the spirit and mortal realms, but also being called upon by a greater power beyond her wildest comprehension. As her world is turned upside down, Paige faces a life-changing dilemma: Should she embrace her special gift and fulfill the destiny that is unfolding before her? Or will she succumb to the evil that surrounds her and deny her true identity?

Destiny’s Gate, Book Two in the Paige Maddison Series, follows the young heroine on her personal journey of discovering inner strength, undying loyalty, and the profound power of unwavering love.

Thank you to the FriesenPress Editor who wrote the synopsis/book blurb of Destiny’s Gate. I could not have written it better myself! Could we have J.R. Matheson?

Thoughtful Reflection on Our World Today

After each manuscript is completed, I often contemplate life and the world at large. I think about the human experience and what it means to us. Apparently I do this as I am writing, too. Here is a quote I found amongst my notes, written November 13, 2013:

I dream of the day when we all act as One. The ‘richness of humans’ will be a relative term wherein we spread our wealth, of our own freewill, to those around us, to help and support one another. That is the wealth we can measure of our humanity and our soul. Written by Lee Bice-Matheson

A Ghost Series: Paige Maddison gets a Fantastic Blurb/Review

Writers work extremely hard to present something unique, entertaining, and possibly enlightening along the way. In the second book of the Paige Maddison Series, Destiny’s Gate, co-authored with J.R. Matheson, has been a journey between mom and son to write a book readers will want to pick up. It is an emotional roller coaster of a ride, full of passion, spirits or ghosts…some call earthbounds.  There are angels, spirits from the light, and a few other characters that will not be revealed until its release late summer, 2014. You will not believe what happens to Paige, her family and friends! Here is the most recent blurb from International Best Selling Author, Cheryl Kaye Tardif:

“Beautifully written, Inspiring and Moving, Destiny’s Gate questions our faith in good versus evil in a truly unique ghostly suspense for teens.”

Thank you Cheryl. We love your blurb and are over the moon about it. 🙂 J.R. and I wish you all the best.

Destiny’s Gate: Announcing the second book in the Paige Maddison Series

by Lee Bice-Matheson & J.R. Matheson

by Lee Bice-Matheson & J.R. Matheson

Do you love ghost stories? Then this series is for you. Paige Maddison, teen and revered ghost buster, is facing evil head on. In the second book, Destiny’s Gate, there are new characters, more depth and to quote Canada’s Master Gatherer, John Robert Colombo:

Destiny’s Gate is a worthy addition to the Paige Maddison SeriesIt moves from “Perhaps, I was living between parallel realities” to “This was my destiny — to protect my family and our heritage, with a little help from my friends.” In between are numerous twists and turns which involve character, knowledge, and understanding. In fact, it is a coming-of-age novel, about a young woman’s maturity, with many a transformation along the way! A detail: The introduction of Grey Owl as a person and as a power is unique in my reading experience. There are many worlds here. Indeed, here is a novel that is written with power and excitement and … let me add … a sense of vision. — John Robert Colombo, Author and Anthologist  Thank you, J.R. Colombo!

I am happy today to announce the cover reveal to Paige’s fans. Readers will be moved by Paige’s journey. Beta readers have described Destiny’s Gate as: Epic, moving, and a roller coaster of a ride! It’s a must read in the series. Destiny’s Gate is co-authored with J.R. Matheson, a gifted and creative writer. The book will be published late this Summer, 2014. Thank you to all who have supported this series.

On Writing: Early Morning Hike on Trail

The best way for me to start my day is an early morning hike on the Simcoe County trails. My husband and I love the fresh air and we were happy to see the signs of Spring are already here. The birds are more active and the squirrels are chasing each other to find their mate. Only 18 days to go to the Spring Equinox! As a writer, walking in nature is also where I receive inspiration for stories.  I love being an writer and was asked recently to submit a short story for an online magazine. The idea is born and the writing begins. Best to all writers. Keep it going. And for exercise, dance like no one’s watching. 🙂 Book two in the Paige Maddison Series goes to the publisher this week and we are on our way, co-author J.R. Matheson! Here we go… Thank you to the readers who have asked for this book since the launch of Wake Me Up Inside in 2012.

Five Star Review of Wake Me Up Inside

The New Year is here and what a way to start out 2014! Another 5 star review of Wake Me Up Inside on goodreads. I am honoured and thrilled when I see this. Writers log many, many, hours of hard work to produce a book. My first novella took 2 1/2 years of writing to its final version. Book two will be released this year and we are so excited about it. My co-author, J.R. Matheson, is doing the final revisions and then off to the publisher.  On another note, I received a big surprise for Christmas from my niece. She sponsored a grey wolf through the World Wildlife Fund (WWF.ca)  in my name. I was shocked as wolves are near and dear to my heart, and are a species at risk. Thank you so much, Katy! I am thrilled that you did this for me and most of all to help the wolves. I feel especially hopeful, positive and energized for 2014 and wish everyone happiness, great health and lots of love in your lives.
