Cross your fingers for me! I am working on a spooktacular Halloween event that will even give me goosebumps. Stay tuned for the location and date. Cannot wait for this to come. My husband, Kevin, and I decorated our home, for our son Justin, with many Halloween creatures, shaking ghosts, masks and more that scared the teens that came over. 🙂 And, they came back every year!
Gratitude
I am often asked ‘why did I get into the writing business’. The answer – to help people. Today, I am humbled by the comments on my blog. Normally, I do not post personal feelings too often, but, I had a big cry this morning. I am happy to help those of you on topics discussed on this blog. After all, we are here to help each other, n’est pas? That is the underlying theme to why I am a writer. Thank you to those of you who spend time on this page and who see that. 🙂
Successful Book Launch
On the other side of The Book Keeper book launch/signing, I wanted to express my gratitude for all parties involved from Susan Chamberlain, owner of The Book Keeper, and her wonderful staff, to my sisters Lynn and Cindy for the catering of the event, and to all of the lovely people who came out to support me and the fans of Paige Maddison’s, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was well attended! My husband, Kevin, counted just shy of 100. Thank you Kevin and to our son, Justin, for all of your support, each and every day. Paige seems to be gaining fans and readership so let’s keep it going. Wake Me Up Inside is sold at The Book Keeper, Sarnia, ON and now at Manticore Books in Orillia, ON. Fantastic! It is also online at amazon.ca amazon.com Barnes and Noble Chapters.ca and many other sites. It will soon be on Kobo! 🙂 This author is happy and peaceful. 🙂
The Book Keeper Signing, Saturday, August 18th
Hello Sarniaaaa! We are coming home again for this auspicious book signing from 11 am to 1 pm. I cannot wait! Family, friends, colleagues, perhaps some fans of Paige’s, what more can you ask for?! Susan, Julie and the Staff of the Book Keeper have all been tremendously supportive and I thank them from the bottom of my heart. The first book signing will never be the same as the next, and is the most special. A friend of mine, who has written fourteen novels, reminded me of that, yesterday. That’s why I chose Sarnia for the book launch. 🙂 Thank you to all for your support. Hope to see you there!
Contacting Lee Bice-Matheson
Thank you to those of you who take the time to read my blog and write comments to me. It is truly amazing. If you need to contact me you can email info@leebicematheson.ca with a specific question. I am sorry but due to the nature of my work, I don’t often have time to respond to each person. Someone said to me today ‘Lee, you have four jobs – wife, mother, author and business partner.’ I could add to that – marketer, promoter, facilitator… Please continue to read and comment, and if you have a question, I will try to get back to you in a timely fashion. 🙂
Conspiracy Theories
They say they’ve begun. Did the present day instigators of this concept ever stop to think that perhaps the change that is about to occur in our world, could be a good one? That at the end of something is always a new and refreshing beginning? Perhaps, we will be more humane to one another, kind, compassionate. Do I believe it’s going to be the end of the world on, what date are they saying, December 21st? I hope not. My husband and I will be married 22 years on 22/12/12. We are planning a beautiful night away. And I for one know that we will be. Conspiracy theories start panic, fear, and can even destroy economies. Do you want to live in fear for the remainder of 2012? I sure don’t. I plan on living life to the fullest, doing my best to help others and continue writing and publishing books. What ever happened to ‘think positive’? Why would we be buying into something eluded to by the Mayans, for instance, from so many years ago. The earth is continually changing and we have control over how we interact with it. Perhaps, finally, we are to become conservationists like it was suggested to be one with nature, and respect flora and fauna. Now there’s a thought. How about we do positive things to this good earth and to those around us. Now there’s a philosophy to think about. It’s only my opinion, but I refuse to buy into the negative energy circulating and spread light where I can. 🙂
The Book Keeper Launch / Signing in Sarnia
A week today and I will be at my first book signing, in my hometown, Sarnia, Ontario. I cannot tell you how excited I am for this! In fact, as I was sitting thinking about it, I stopped breathing for a moment. Whoops. Better not do that again. When I think back to my childhood years and friends in public school, I have warm memories. I attended Errol Road Public school not far from my home. Our son, Justin, attended Errol as well which made it kind of strange to visit the same public school I viewed once through childhood eyes, and then as an adult. Secondary school for me was at Northern Collegiate down the street. Again, our son, Justin, attended this school. Talk about walking down memory lane over and over again. Teen years are challenging, difficult, sometimes lonely, sometimes very social, but the years wherein you figure out a bit of who you are. I believe it’s a process through-out one’s lifetime. Enjoy the journey! Hey Sarnia. Hope you are coming out to the big day Susan Chamberlain has organized! I’d love to see you there. 🙂
Famous Lasting Words
A friend gave me a copy of John Robert Colombo’s book of Canadian quotations, Famous Lasting Words. I am so upset because I’m supposed to be writing and I never read anyone’s books during this process. But I cannot stop reading this awesome book of Canadian quotes and additional observations made by non-Canadians about life in this country. It’s actually addicting. What a genius, Mr Colombo is! He has a topic, for example Belief, and then famous quotes such as Goldwin Smith who said ‘Agnosticism is right, if it is a counsel of honesty, but ought not to be heard if it is a counsel of despair’, c1897. Or, Albert Einstein’s quote – ‘Tell the students of the University of Toronto from me, simple, but perhaps helpful to some, I say to them: Be above mere authority in matters of the mind; they must, in the last analysis, follow their own judgment – their own feeling of truth. I tell those students this – they must profess no belief without conviction. To conform, means often death; to non-conform – in this is often life, often life eternal’, c1934. You’ve got to buy a copy and keep it close by to read and feel connected to learn about our wonderful Canadian history, politics, personalities, traditions, and country! I love it! Thank you to my friend. 🙂
Book Launch/Signing at the Orillia Public Library
I am pleased and honoured to have my book launch at the Orillia Public Library on the last day of summer, Friday, September 21st, from 4:30 to 6 pm. Pass it on to the teens and tweens of Simcoe County! I will look forward to seeing them on this day. 🙂 Thank you kindly to the staff of the Library. http://www.orilliapubliclibrary.ca/en/
Ghost Story by Peter Straub
Yesterday, we had a patient in our Clinic discussing my most influential writer of all times, Peter Straub and his novel Ghost Story. I can still remember reading it, thinking about it, to this day, and the patient said the same. It left us feeling haunted. When he saw my new book cover he said, ‘Like your’s Lee Anne’. I’ve had many readers say that they’ve read Wake Me Up Inside and really enjoyed it, but then, cannot stop thinking about it. All in a good way. ‘It moved them’. Let’s hope it does the same to you! I made the best sellers list today on Friesen Press and hope to do the same on Amazon. Support your authors. Thank you. 🙂
