It’s time we Canadians formally declared this day and stand together to honour, remember, and grieve for the lost children and Survivors of residential schools in Canada, and their families and communities that suffer every day. Many children were murdered. Many survived. And many of our Indigenous women and children are still missing. We are feeling the pain of these tragic events. Saddened, devastated, yet hopeful people of all cultures will learn more about our Indigenous culture and heritage. We share your pain. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/first-national-truth-reconciliation-day-1.6188540
We had the honour and privilege meeting Chief Edmund Metatawabin at the largest international book fair held in Toronto (INSPIRE! TIBF) back in 2014. He visited our booth and shared his experiences at a residential school. His book is Up Ghost River and is available at most online/book stores. Thank you Chief for giving us insights into your life and culture. We’ll never forget it. https://www.tvo.org/article/what-it-means-to-be-honoured-by-the-country-that-wronged-you For further information on Chief Metatawabin’s books: https://www.edmundmetatawabin.com/edmund-metatawabin-author
