J.R. Matheson and I are pleased to announce we held our 25th book signing for the Paige Maddison Series at Indigo Erin Mills on Easter Saturday, April 15th, 2017. From the welcoming poster announcing our book signing on the entry door, to the welcoming staff, and meeting the absolutely enthusiastic readers who stopped by and picked up a copy of our series, it was one of the best days to date. We felt special and received wonderful feedback from many readers. In fact, one mother bought a book for her young daughter … who went home, read it, and emailed back ‘she loved it!’ Thank you so much for that immediate response. Writers spend a lot of time on their craft and to receive instant, positive feedback was truly appreciated. Thank you kindly to everyone who dropped by and spoke to us. We love sharing our Mom-Son writing story as well. We hope to return to Indigo Erin Mills again. Thank you kindly.
INDIGO ERIN MILLS MARKS 25TH BOOK SIGNING IN-STORE FOR THE PAIGE MADDISON SERIES
CHAPTERS BRAMPTON HOSTS LEE BICE-MATHESON AND THE PAIGE MADDISON SERIES
It was our debut book signing at Chapters Brampton held on April 1st, 2017. What a wonderful store with many interesting book lovers, authors, and welcoming staff. https://business.facebook.com/leebicematheson/posts/1315214225222192 We quickly set up our display and when I turned around to greet readers there stood two authors asking what it’s like to do book signings with Indigo/Chapters. I hope I helped to encourage and share information that will help you in your journeys. Next up was an interested writer who shared he’s putting his pen to paper writing his memoir. It was an interesting conversation with Gar. We wish you all the best in your new adventure. Then we met a dozen or so book lovers that were interested in our series. Discussing the Paige Maddison Series and what it’s all about is an honour and we’re always happy many readers are interested in our series. I explained that we write a supernatural series with a spiritual twist, not paranormal. It is the age-old tale of good vs evil and as one reviewer said, ‘You have a unique series here. You tell the tale from the good side and what they do with evil.” Thank you for that insightful observation. We sold many copies of our second novel, Destiny’s Gate, and Shine Your Light, our bestseller. Thank you to those who support Indie authors. We’re always grateful when you choose our series. Thank you Rob for setting us up, and Mike for making sure the afternoon went smoothly.A special thank you to Melanie for doing a Facebook post on our event and on Twitter. We also really enjoyed our conversations with Karla, Joe, and Thomas. You made our day. Thank you kindly. Next up, we’re excited to be coming to Indigo Erin Mills in Mississauga on Easter Saturday, 1 pm. They have already begun advertising us via social media, and in their awesome bookstore, and in the Starbucks, too. We really appreciate your support and both J.R. and I are happy to see you soon. Thank you again.
Paige Maddison Series Returned to Indigo Eaton Centre, St. Patrick’s Day, March Break 2017
We were thrilled to return to Indigo Eaton Centre on March 17th with the Paige Maddison Series.
Thank you to our host, Kari, for greeting us and setting us up at the top of the escalator. It was good to be back again. It was a bustling place. We assumed most people would be on vacation, but there were so many readers buzzing around the store.
It was awesome! I loved every second of this energized book signing from the hospitable staff, Kari, Jennifer, Karen, and so many more (thank you for making my husband and I feel so welcomed) to your awesome book lovers! Many stopped by to look at our series: a sea cadet from Ottawa who loves the supernatural genre, especially ghosts, to a university student that was interested in Paige Maddison’s spiritual awakening, to a young book lover who wanted to read about Paige’s personality and her fight against evil / bullying, and many more. I talked a lot throughout our late afternoon on St. Patrick’s Day.
We know not everyone loves ghosts, or supernatural books, but so many readers stopped by to congratulate me and my son (in absentia working) for having written 3 novels in the Paige Maddison Series.
I cannot recount how many people shook my hand over this. As a special thank you, we gave out Paige’s Guardian Angel charm (hand-crafted by our friends at Muskoka Pewter) that is mentioned in Destiny’s Gate to the book lovers who bought copies of our series.
We loved each and every conversation and it was indeed my honour to meet all of you. Thank you for stopping by. Special thanks to the book lovers who picked up copies of our series. We’ve been asked to return again to Indigo Eaton Centre and we shall look forward to it. As a sidebar, J.R. Matheson spent hours and hours browsing books in this Indigo bookstore as a young child right through until the end of highschool. We, as parents, allowed him to explore the store on his own. We had a planned meet-up after an hour. However, as a mom, I never really let him out of my sight unbeknownst to J.R. It gave him confidence and independence to explore his interests. Now J.R.’s a PhD student at the University of Toronto. 🙂 Thank you again to Indigo Eaton Centre for hosting us. Special thanks to Kari for setting us up, and Karen for the social media.
A special Happy Birthday shoutout to our dear friends, Ruth and JR Colombo, for their birthdays. Have the happiest one(s) yet. They are our friends, my mentors, and supporters of the Paige Maddison Series.
March Break Fun: Book Signing at Chapters Bayview Village for Lee Bice-Matheson & the Paige Maddison Series
It was this author’s dream come true with the exception of missing my coauthor and son. Unfortunately, J.R. Matheson caught a virus that many have succumbed to in our cold Canadian winter season. So many book lovers asked about J.R. and wished him well. I passed the well wishes along. 🙂 Thank you kindly.
From the moment I arrived with books in hand, I was greeted at the door by Donald who informed me our desk and Indigo tablecloth was all set up at the top of the escalator, second floor. Heather then arranged for the Paige Maddison Series to be processed and later brought the books upstairs for our signing. Thank you so much to all of the wonderful staff at Chapters Bayview Village for your support and encouragement including Heather, Yasir, Donald, Frances, and Brett. I felt very welcomed and honoured, indeed. Also, thank you Heather for introducing me on the PA system. That was fantastic! Thank you Colin for arranging all of this, and Yasir for overseeing it.
We had many book lovers drop by. From my cousin Jason and his loving wife, Michelle, and his lovely family, to my mentors JR Colombo and his loving wife Ruth, and a childhood friend, Suzanne, who surprised me, too! It was a wonderful start to the book signing event. I had many wonderful conversations with interested readers from young tweens/teens to those who are young at heart. One young lady who bought the series exclaimed, “I know I’m going to love this series!” And later she returned and asked, “What are your plans with the Paige Maddison Series?” I was delighted as I had seen her reading part of the first novel, Wake Me Up Inside. I shared that our son, J.R., was now in his PhD full-time and he was sadly retiring from writing with me. However, I shared I have already begun book four and am rebranding the series wherein each novel will be a standalone mystery much like the Nancy Drew series. I smiled and said to her, “You’re probably too young to know who that is.” She broke out into a huge smile and said, “Oh, I know who Nancy Drew is. That’s awesome!” I grabbed a copy of Shine Your Light, flipped it over, and showed her JR Colombo’s book blurb: “Paige is … the Nancy Drew of the realm of high spirits and dreams and visions. In my opinion, it is “a keeper.”” She walked away with a spring in her step. It made my day. That exchange is what means the most to me … to hear the readers’ thoughts and their input. The questions from the tweens and teens were insightful. I was so happy to have an audience with everyone who dropped by. Thank you to each and every one of you who made the effort and also encouraged the Paige Maddison Series to go forward. And a special thank you to those book lovers who picked up a copy of our series. J.R., my husband and business manager, Kevin, and I all thank you! All 3 books in the series were sold: Wake Me Up Inside, #1; Destiny’s Gate, #2; Shine Your Light, #3, our new release and bestseller. For readers who missed this book signing, we are happy to announce Chapters Bayview Village is stocking the Paige Maddison Series. You can pick them up any time. To see all of the photos please go to our Facebook:
Thank you again to Chapters Bayview Village for hosting us and to Colin for booking us first to launch our new release, Shine Your Light. I loved every second at Chapters Bayview Village. We area honoured they’ve asked us to return again soon. Thank you so much!
INDIGO YORKDALE HOSTS LEE BICE-MATHESON & J.R. MATHESON OF THE PAIGE MADDISON SERIES
It was an interesting afternoon spent at Indigo Yorkdale on Saturday and our first time there for an Author instore book signing. We were greeted right away by their welcoming staff. We began our day with a visit from grandparents looking for a special book for their granddaughter and boy were they happy to see the Paige Maddison Series on display. We had a lively chat and they bought Wake Me Up Inside to start her on the Paige Maddison Series. They really made our day.
We had another visit with parents of four daughters. They were so happy to see a series written for their daughters’ age group, 10+. And again they invested in the series and shook our hands encouraging us to continue on in our journey writing Paige’s story. So many readers dropped by our table and supported us. We want everyone to know how much we enjoyed our time with you and to thank you so much for stopping by. So many of you had kind words of encouragement. For instance, a local composer stopped to chat about art and what it’s like to write as a Mom-Son team; one young man attending Carleton University specifically came to talk to us about the craft of writing and what it’s like to be authors. He said, “I know of the Paige Maddison Series.” We wish him all the best with his writing career. It really made our day knowing this student came all the way to Indigo Yorkdale to meet J.R. and I. Thank you so much for your time and trouble. We’d like to thank Sarah, Geoffrey, and Sharon for hosting us on Saturday. We appreciated the opportunity to share Paige Maddison with the world; it’s priceless to us. Thank you kindly. And thank you Sharon for the invite to come back again. We shall return. Thank you so much!
We were happy to meet author Nana Abraham of ‘For Black Girls’ fame and her team. They are all very talented people. They held a raffle and read from her new release.
It was very entertaining. Congratulations on your success Nana!
