Yesterday, we had a patient in our Clinic discussing my most influential writer of all times, Peter Straub and his novel Ghost Story.  I can still remember reading it, thinking about it, to this day, and the patient said the same.  It left us feeling haunted.  When he saw my new book cover he said, ‘Like your’s Lee Anne’.  I’ve had many readers say that they’ve read Wake Me Up Inside and really enjoyed it, but then, cannot stop thinking about it.  All in a good way.  ‘It moved them’.  Let’s hope it does the same to you!  I made the best sellers list today on Friesen Press and hope to do the same on Amazon.  Support your authors.  Thank you. 🙂

In Praise of “Wake Me Up Inside” by Lee Bice-Matheson  “It was an amazing feeling …. ” So begins this lively short first novel written by Lee Bice-Matheson. It tells the story of a young girl who will soon be a young woman, so part of the novel’s charm lies in how it describes young Paige’s exuberant feelings for her grandparents, her parents, and her best friends of both sexes. It begins in Scarborough, the Ontario one, not the one in North Yorkshire, England, and then it transports the reader to “the Manor” where life is rather different, both demanding and rewarding! The author deserves to be congratulated, for she has found a style that moves along in a sprightly fashion. She spares the reader the descriptive passages found in most first novels in favour of rewarding the reader with reams of lively speech. The result is that young Paige is very much alive, she enters into relationships, and she turns out to be something of an acrobat, for she leaps off the page! The novel may begin with a dream sequence, but it ends with a hilarious scene with these very words: “What now?! My first book signing will be at http://sarniabookkeeper.com/ on August 18, 2012.  Susan Chamberlain, the owner, has graciously agreed to have me as a guest author.  How excited am I?  Ecstatic!  The Bookkeeper was the only store that we bought our books from when we lived in Sarnia.  I would order books by phone for my son, Justin, who when old enough, said ‘Mom, I’ll phone and order my own books from now on’.  This from the child who did not like speaking on the telephone but he loved The Bookkeeper and the staff. 🙂  I am very ecstatic!  Thank you to Susan.  Please pass it along to any and everyone who lives in Sarnia and the surrounding area.  This hometown girl is excited to come home again!
